German Pork Chop and Sauerkraut Bake

  • 6 whole bone-in pork chops
  • 4 whole potatoes, sliced
  • 16 oz canned sauerkraut
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 0.3 cup water

Instructions

    Preheat oven to 325°F.

    Season pork chops with salt and pepper. Brown in oil in a skillet.

    Place browned chops in a casserole dish. Slice potatoes over the top.

    Mound sauerkraut on the pork chops.

    Remove excess fat from the skillet. Add water and heat, scraping up browned bits. Pour over sauerkraut.

    Cover the casserole tightly and bake at 325°F for 2 to 2½ hours until chops are very tender.
