New Orleans BBQ Shrimp

- 2 lb whole fresh shrimp in the shell
- 1 cup margarine (2 sticks)
- 0.5 cup vegetable oil
- 0.5 cup chicken broth
- 4 tsp garlic, finely minced
- 5 whole bay leaves, torn
- 4 tsp dried rosemary, crushed
- 1 tsp dried sweet basil
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- 4 tsp paprika
- 0.5 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice

In a heavy saucepan melt the margarine, then add the oil and mix well.

Add all ingredients except the shrimp and broth, cook over medium heat stirring constantly until sauce begins to boil.

Reduce heat to low and simmer 7-8 minutes, stirring frequently. Remove from heat and let stand at room temperature for at least 30 minutes.

Add the shrimp to the sauce, mix thoroughly, and put back on burner.

Cook over medium heat 6-8 minutes, or until shrimp turn pink. Add broth and shake pan to mix.

Place pan in preheated 450°F oven and bake for 10 minutes, or simmer loosely covered on stovetop 5-10 minutes.

Serve with crusty bread to sop up the sauce.
