  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 0.5 cup water
  • 3 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 0.5 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/8 tsp ground black pepper
  • 16 oz canned refried beans
  • 16 oz taco sauce, divided
  • 6 corn tortillas corn tortillas
  • 8 oz sour cream
  • 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese

Instructions

    Preheat oven to 350°F.

    Cook ground beef in a large skillet until browned, stirring to crumble. Drain well.

    Add chopped onion, water, chili powder, salt, cumin, and pepper to the beef. Cook uncovered about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.

    Remove from heat. Stir in refried beans and set mixture aside.

    Spread about ½ cup taco sauce in the bottom of a greased 12 x 8 x 2-inch baking dish.

    Arrange 2 tortillas on top of sauce. Cover with half the meat mixture, half the sour cream, and an additional ½ cup taco sauce. Repeat layers with 2 more tortillas, remaining meat mixture, sour cream, and taco sauce.

    Top with the last 2 tortillas. Spread remaining taco sauce over top and sprinkle with shredded Cheddar.

    Bake 20–25 minutes until heated through and cheese is melted and bubbly.
