Johnny Mazetti

Veggie-style Johnny Mazetti with Granburger soy crumbles, sautéed vegetables, tomato sauce and medium noodles topped with melted cheese. A meatless take on the Midwestern classic.

  • 0 vegetable oil for coating
  • 0.5 cup green bell pepper, diced
  • 1 cup onion, diced
  • 1 cup celery, diced
  • 15 oz tomato sauce
  • 16 oz canned tomatoes with juice
  • 1 cup water
  • 0.5 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 4 oz canned mushrooms, drained
  • 1 0.5 cup Granburger or soy-based ground beef substitute
  • 8 oz medium egg noodles
  • 8 oz cheese, grated

Instructions

    Coat saucepan with oil. Add bell pepper, onion and celery. Cover and cook about 10 minutes.

    Add tomato sauce, tomatoes, water, garlic powder, sugar, mushrooms and Granburger.

    Cover and simmer for 20 minutes.

    Cook noodles and add to other ingredients; mix well.

    Put into a casserole and top with grated cheese. Bake at 350°F for 20 minutes.
