- 1 cup unsifted flour
- 1 0.5 tsp baking powder
- 0.5 tsp salt
- 2/3 cup sugar
- 0.3 cup margarine or butter
- 0.5 tsp vanilla
- 0.3 cup water
- 0.5 cup milk
- 1 egg

Mix the flour, baking powder, and salt, set aside. Stir sugar into margarine in a large bowl. Beat well with a spoon or a beater. Add vanilla, egg, and water. Beat until fluffy with a spoon or a beater. Add flour mixture and milk. Mix until smooth. Fill a greased, floured baking pan half full. Bake at 375° about 25 minutes until cake springs back when lightly touched near center,
