Israeli Wheat Berry Stew

  • 5 cup water
  • 1 0.5 cup dried Great Northern beans
  • 1 cup wheat berries
  • 6 small potatoes, cut in half
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 4 clove garlic, minced
  • 5 tsp ground cumin
  • 3 tsp ground turmeric
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp salt

Instructions

    Combine all ingredients in the slow cooker. Stir to mix well.

    Cover and cook on HIGH for 8–10 hours until beans and wheat berries are very tender.

    Taste and adjust seasoning with salt.

    Serve in bowls — the stew will have a thick, hearty consistency.
