Wendy's Chili (Copycat)

Copycat Wendy's iconic beef chili with kidney beans, pinto beans, diced tomatoes, green chilies, and chili powder — rinsed beef for a cleaner flavor.

  • 1 lb ground chuck
  • 15 oz diced tomatoes with liquid (1 can)
  • 15 oz red kidney beans, drained (1 can)
  • 15 oz pinto beans, drained (1 can)
  • 8 oz tomato sauce (1 can)
  • 0.5 whole white onion, diced
  • 4 oz diced green chilies with liquid (1 can)
  • 2 tbsp celery, chopped
  • 2 tbsp chili powder
  • 0.5 tbsp ground cumin
  • 1 cup water

Instructions

    Brown ground chuck over medium heat, breaking into small pieces. Add a dash of salt and pepper.

    Drain cooked meat into a strainer and rinse well under very hot water (this removes excess fat).

    Put rinsed meat into a pot. Add all remaining ingredients.

    Cover and cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, for 1 hour.

    If chili becomes too thick, add a little water. Season with additional salt, pepper, and chili powder to taste.
