Walnut Scones

- 2 cup all-purpose flour
- 0.3 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 0.5 tsp salt
- 0.3 tsp baking soda
- 1/3 cup butter
- 2/3 each to 3/4 cup buttermilk
- 0.5 cup walnuts, chopped
Instructions

Heat oven to 375 degrees F.

Grease cookie sheets.

In large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and baking soda; blend well.

Using fork or pastry blender, cut in margarine until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Add buttermilk and walnuts; stir just until dry ingredients are moistened.

Drop by heaping teaspoonsful 2 inches apart onto greased cookie sheets.

Bake for 9 to 12 minutes or until light golden brown.

Immediately remove from cookie sheets.

Serve warm.

Yield: 30 scones High Altitude...Above 3500 feet: Decrease baking powder to 1 1/2 teaspoons; increase buttermilk to 3/4 cup plus 1 to 2 tablespoons.
