Steak-n-Shake Chili
Copycat Steak 'n Shake restaurant chili — ground beef simmered all day in a slow cooker with kidney beans, tomato, cola, cocoa, and cumin for a deep, complex flavor.

- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 0.5 lb ground beef
- 0.5 tsp salt
- 10 0.5 oz canned onion soup
- 1 tbsp chili powder
- 2 tsp ground cumin
- 0.5 tsp black pepper
- 2 tsp cocoa powder
- 30 oz canned kidney beans, drained
- 6 oz canned tomato paste
- 8 oz canned tomato sauce
- 1 cup cola (Coke or Pepsi)

Brown ground beef with salt in oil in a skillet. Drain well.

Blend canned onion soup in a blender for 1 minute.

Add browned beef, blended soup, kidney beans, tomato paste, tomato sauce, cola, chili powder, cumin, pepper, and cocoa to a slow cooker. Stir to combine.

Cook on low for 6 hours or on high for 2 hours. Taste and adjust seasoning before serving.
