Spicy Rice Meatballs

- 1 count egg
- 0.5 tsp salt
- 0.5 tsp Italian herb seasoning
- 0.3 tsp black pepper
- 1 count clove garlic, minced
- 0.3 cup onion, finely chopped
- 1 lb extra lean ground beef
- 8 oz ground veal or turkey
- 0.5 cup long-grain white rice, uncooked
- 0.5 cup fine dry bread crumbs
- 15 oz canned tomato sauce
- 0.5 cup tomato juice
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 4 oz canned diced green chiles

In a large bowl, beat the egg with salt, Italian seasoning, and pepper.

Add garlic, onion, ground beef, ground veal, uncooked rice, and bread crumbs. Mix well.

Shape into 1½-inch meatballs and place in a 5-quart or larger slow cooker.

In the same bowl, mix together the tomato sauce, tomato juice, chili powder, and green chiles.

Pour the sauce over the meatballs.

Cover and cook on LOW for 6 to 8 hours, until rice in the meatballs is cooked through.

Gently stir the sauce around the meatballs from the sides if needed before serving.
