  • 2 tsp of baking soda
  • 2 tbsp of hot wate r
  • 0.5 cup of soft shortening
  • 0.5 cup of sugar
  • 0.5 cup of molasses
  • 1 egg
  • 6 tbsp of cold water
  • 0.5 cup of seedless raisins or dates
