Smothered Chicken

- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 cup sliced onions
- 1 cup sliced mushrooms
- 4 slice bacon, cooked
- 4 slice provolone cheese
- 3 tbsp butter
- 1 tsp hickory smoke flavoring
- 1 tsp dried basil
- 1 tbsp garlic powder
- 3 tbsp hickory smoke flavoring (for marinade)
- 0.3 cup white cooking wine
- 0.3 cup vegetable oil

Combine basil, garlic powder, 3 tbsp hickory smoke, white cooking wine, oil, salt, and pepper to make a marinade. Marinate chicken for at least 2 hours.

Sauté mushrooms and onions in butter with 1 tsp hickory smoke flavoring for 3–5 minutes until onions are soft and mushrooms are tender.

Grill marinated chicken for about 10 minutes; do not overcook.

Preheat oven broiler. Place grilled chicken in a shallow baking dish.

Top each breast with bacon, provolone, and the mushroom-onion mixture.

Broil for 3–5 minutes until cheese is bubbly. Serve immediately.
