Shoney's Country Fried Steak

- 4 whole 4-oz cube steaks, trimmed and flattened
- 2 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp salt
- 0.3 tsp black pepper
- 3 cup water, for dipping
- 1 0.5 tbsp lean ground beef
- 0.3 cup flour for gravy
- 2 cup chicken broth
- 2 cup milk
Instructions

Sift flour, salt, and pepper together in a bowl. Put water in a separate bowl.

Dip steaks in water, then in flour mixture. Repeat for a double coating.

Lay coated steaks on wax paper and freeze for 3 hours.

Deep fry steaks in 350°F oil for 8 to 10 minutes until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.

For gravy: brown ground beef in a skillet. Stir in ¼ cup flour, then slowly add chicken broth and milk.

Bring to a boil, then simmer until thick. Season with salt and pepper.

Pour gravy over fried steaks and serve immediately.
