- 0.5 lb bacon, sliced
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 1 cup ketchup (catsup)
- 0.5 lb brown sugar
- 32 oz can pork and beans

Preheat oven to 350°F.

In a skillet, cook the bacon until crisp. Remove to paper towels, drain, and crumble. Set aside.

Drain most of the bacon drippings from the skillet. Add the ground beef and brown over medium heat. Drain.

Add the chopped onion to the beef and cook until tender, about 5 minutes.

Mix the ketchup and brown sugar together; stir into the beef and onion mixture.

Stir in the pork and beans and all but 2 tablespoons of the crumbled bacon.

Transfer to an 8-inch square baking dish. Top with the reserved 2 tablespoons of bacon.

Bake uncovered at 350°F for 1 hour, until bubbly and slightly caramelized on top.
