Seven Layer Ground Beef Casserole

- 1 cup uncooked long-grain white rice
- 1 cup whole kernel corn, cooked or canned, drained
- 15 oz can tomato sauce
- 0.8 cup water
- 0.5 cup onion, finely chopped
- 0.5 cup green bell pepper, chopped
- 1 cup green beans, cooked or canned, drained
- 0.8 lb ground beef
- 4 strips bacon, cut into 1-inch pieces
- 1 tsp salt
- 0.3 tsp black pepper

Preheat oven to 350°F.

Put the uncooked rice and corn in a greased baking pan or dish. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.

Mix the tomato sauce and water together. Pour half of this mixture over the corn and rice.

Add layers in this order: onion, green pepper, green beans, and ground beef. Sprinkle with salt and pepper after each meat layer.

Pour the remaining tomato sauce mixture over the top. Top with the bacon pieces.

Cover tightly with foil and bake at 350°F for 1 hour.

Uncover and bake 30 minutes more, until the beef and bacon are cooked through and the rice has absorbed the liquid.
