Instructions

    Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F.

    Wipe the chestnuts with a damp cloth to remove any dust.

  3. 3

    With a sharp knife, cut an X into one side of each chestnut-- if you don't cut them they will explode and make a mess.

    Arrange chestnuts on a baking sheet in a single layer with the cut sides up.

  5. 5

    Roast in oven for 15 to 25 minutes, or until chestnuts are tender.

    Allow to cool enough to handle before peeling off the outer and inner husk.
