Pizza Strata

Make-ahead pizza-flavored bread strata with Italian bread cubes, spinach, pepperoni, fresh tomato, mozzarella and Italian seasoning soaked in egg custard overnight.

  • 1 loaf Italian bread, cut into 1½-inch cubes
  • 10 oz frozen chopped spinach, thawed and squeezed dry
  • 4 oz pepperoni stick, quartered lengthwise and thinly sliced
  • 1 large tomato, cored and diced
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 0.5 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup half-and-half
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp pepper

Instructions

    Coat a 12x7-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.

    Toss together bread, spinach, pepperoni, tomato, cheese and Italian seasoning; spread evenly in dish.

    Whisk together eggs, half-and-half, salt and pepper; pour evenly over bread mixture.

    Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate at least 2 hours or overnight.

    Remove from refrigerator 5 minutes before baking. Preheat oven to 425°F.

    Remove plastic wrap; cover with foil. Bake 15 minutes. Uncover; bake 15 minutes more. Let cool slightly.
