- 2 slice white or brown bread, soaked in water for 10 minutes
- 0.5 lb minced beef
- 0.5 lb minced lean lamb
- 1 medium onion, grated
- 1 egg
- 1 lemon, juiced
- 1 tbsp chopped fresh thyme
- 1 tbsp chopped fresh oregano
- 2 tbsp chopped fresh mint
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 0.5 cup olive oil, for frying

Squeeze the water out of the soaked bread, discarding the liquid.

In a mixing bowl, combine the bread, minced beef, lamb, grated onion, egg, lemon juice, thyme, oregano, and mint. Mix well. Season with salt and pepper.

Chill the mixture for 20 minutes. Form into small balls about 1.5 inches in diameter. Dust lightly with flour.

Heat olive oil in a large frying pan over medium-high heat. Fry the keftehes in batches until golden-brown on all sides, about 3 to 4 minutes.

Drain on paper towels. Serve warm with lemon wedges and tzatziki.
