Hot Five Bean Salad

  • 1 lb bacon
  • 2/3 cup white sugar
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 0.5 tsp salt
  • 1 pinch ground black pepper
  • 0.8 cup distilled white vinegar
  • 0.5 cup water
  • 1 can black beans (15 oz), rinsed and drained
  • 1 can kidney beans (15 oz), drained
  • 1 can green beans (15 oz), drained
  • 1 can wax beans (15 oz), drained
  • 1 can lima beans (15 oz), drained

Instructions

    Place bacon in a large, deep skillet. Cook over medium-high heat until evenly browned. Drain, crumble, and set aside.

    Reserve some bacon drippings in the pan.

    Stir sugar, cornstarch, salt, and pepper into the drippings. Add vinegar and water. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly.

    Add all five drained beans. Stir to coat and heat through.

    Stir in crumbled bacon.
