Hamburger Goulash

Old-fashioned stovetop hamburger goulash with stewed tomatoes, corn, flat noodles and a blend of oregano, basil and garlic. Topped with melted cheese for a hearty one-pan dinner.

  • 1 0.5 lb ground beef
  • 28 oz canned stewed tomatoes (two cans)
  • 15 oz canned corn
  • 8 oz tomato sauce
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 8 oz flat noodles
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp pepper
  • 0.5 tsp garlic powder
  • 0.5 tsp oregano
  • 0.5 tsp basil
  • 0.5 tsp sugar
  • 0 shredded cheese for topping

Instructions

    In a large skillet, brown hamburger and onion; drain.

    Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, oregano, basil and sugar to taste.

    Add tomatoes, corn and tomato sauce. Add dry noodles to the skillet; add about 1 cup of water if necessary to almost cover noodles.

    Cover and cook for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

    Uncover and cook an additional 20 minutes until noodles are soft and most of the liquid is absorbed.

    Top with shredded cheese for the last 3-5 minutes until cheese melts.
