Ingredients

Servings
6
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tbsp vinegar
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp vanilla
  • 6 whole Twinkies, frozen
  • 4 cup vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. 1

Chill or freeze Twinkies for several hours or overnight.

  2. 2

Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer to about 375°F.

  3. 3

Mix together milk, vinegar, and oil. In a separate bowl, blend flour, baking powder, and salt. Whisk wet into dry until smooth. Refrigerate while oil heats.

  4. 4

Dust each Twinkie with flour, then dip into batter rotating until completely covered.

  5. 5

Place carefully in hot oil. Hold under with a utensil — it floats. Fry until golden, 3-4 minutes. Drain on paper towels. Let sit 5 minutes. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.
