Fried Apples & Bacon

  • 4 each winesap apples
  • 0.3 cup water
  • 8 slice of bacon
  • 1/3 cup sugar

Instructions

    Fry the bacon over low heat until cooked but not crisp.

    Remove bacon and drain off all but a couple of table-spoons of the bacon fat.

    Add sliced apples.

  4. 4

    Cover and cook over low heat until apples are almost tender.

  5. 5

    Add sugar and cook on medium heat until candied.

  6. 6

    Return bacon to the pan and cook briefly, turning frequently.

  7. 7

    Serves 4 at a cost of 25 cents a serving.
