Fresh Apple Puree

- 2 tbsp butter
- 0.5 cup brown sugar
- 0.3 cup Steen's 100% Pure Cane Syrup
- 0.5 tsp ground cinnamon
- 0.3 tsp ground cloves
- 2 0.5 lb Granny Smith apples, cored, quartered and chopped
- 2 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp water

In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Stir in brown sugar, cane syrup, and spices, stirring until sugar dissolves.

Add apples and a pinch of salt. Mix well. Cook 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Dissolve cornstarch in water. Stir into apples and continue to cook 10 more minutes.

Remove from heat and cool completely.

In a food processor or blender, puree until slightly smooth. Yields about 3 cups.
