Emeril's Pizza

Emeril's signature pizza with Italian sausage, roasted peppers, mozzarella and fresh basil on a homemade dough.

  • 1 envelope active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 pinch sugar
  • 3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1 0.5 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 0.5 lb Italian sausage, cooked and crumbled
  • 1 cup roasted red peppers, sliced
  • 0.3 cup fresh basil leaves

Instructions

    Dissolve yeast in warm water with the sugar. Let stand 5 minutes until foamy. Add flour, salt and olive oil. Mix until dough comes together.

    Knead on floured surface for 8 minutes until smooth. Place in oiled bowl, cover and let rise 1 hour.

    Preheat oven to 500 degrees with a pizza stone if available.

    Roll out dough to desired thickness. Spread tomato sauce leaving a 1-inch border. Top with mozzarella, cooked sausage, and roasted peppers.

    Bake for 12-15 minutes until crust is golden and cheese is bubbling. Top with fresh basil leaves and serve immediately.
