Cabbage Roll Casserole

  • 1 head large cabbage, chopped into bite-size chunks
  • 1 0.5 lb ground beef
  • 2 cup cooked instant rice
  • 52 oz tomato sauce (2 jars)
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp onion powder
  • 0.5 tsp garlic powder

Instructions

    Preheat oven to 350°F.

    Fry cabbage in butter in a Dutch oven until tender but not mushy. Transfer to a bowl.

    In the same pan, brown ground beef. Drain fat.

    Cook rice. Mix meat and rice together with salt, onion powder, garlic powder, and enough tomato sauce to moisten.

    Cover the bottom of a 13x9-inch baking dish with about ¼ inch tomato sauce.

    Layer cabbage, then meat-rice mixture, then more tomato sauce. Repeat layers.

    Bake at 350°F for 30 to 40 minutes until heated through and bubbly.
