- 2 cup self-rising flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 2 tsp confectioners' sugar
- 0.5 cup solid vegetable shortening (like Crisco)
- 1 0.5 cup buttermilk
- 0.3 cup butter, melted

Preheat oven to 450°F (230°C).

Stir together flour, baking powder, and confectioners' sugar in a bowl. Cut in shortening until pieces are about the size of rice grains.

Stir in buttermilk until dough comes together. Knead a few times on a floured surface.

Roll out to ¾-inch thickness — do not over-work the dough or add too much flour.

Cut with a large (3-inch) biscuit cutter. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet.
