Ingredients

Servings
12
  • 0.5 cup butter, room temperature
  • 0.3 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.3 cup brown sugar
  • 1 count large egg
  • 0.5 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour, plus 2 tsp
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp baking soda
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 0.5 cup coarsely chopped walnuts

Instructions

  1. 1

    Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. 2

Beat butter and both sugars in a large bowl until light and fluffy. Add egg and vanilla; mix well.

  3. 3

Mix flour, salt, and baking soda in a separate bowl. Add dry ingredients to the batter and mix until well blended. Stir in chocolate chips and walnuts.

  4. 4

Drop dough by small scoops onto an ungreased cookie sheet, spacing 2–3 inches apart. Flatten each scoop to about 3 inches in diameter with the back of a spoon.

  5. 5

Bake 11–14 minutes until edges are set but centers are still slightly soft. Let cool on the cookie sheet 5 minutes before transferring. Makes about 12 large cookies.
