Ingredients

Servings
4
  • 1 cup McCormick Golden Dipt Tempura batter mix
  • 0.3 tsp onion powder
  • 1/8 tsp ground black pepper
  • 0.5 cup water
  • 0.3 cup beer
  • 1 count extra large white onion, sliced 3/8-inch thick
  • 6 cup vegetable oil, for frying

Instructions

  1. 1

    Preheat a deep fryer to 375°F (190°C).

  2. 2

Combine the tempura batter mix with onion powder, black pepper, water, and beer. Mix with a fork until a batter forms — small lumps are fine.

  3. 3

Slice the onion and separate all the rings.

  4. 4

Dip individual onion rings in the batter and drop into the preheated oil. Deep fry 3–5 minutes until golden brown.

  5. 5

Remove to a paper towel-lined plate, salt lightly, and serve hot.
