3 Musketeers Bars
Homemade copycat 3 Musketeers candy bars — fluffy chocolate nougat dipped in milk chocolate. Makes 14 bars.
Ingredients
- 3 cup granulated sugar
- 0.8 cup light corn syrup
- 0.8 cup water
- 1/8 tsp salt
- 3 each egg whites
- 0.3 cup semisweet chocolate chips
- 24 oz milk chocolate chips (two 12-oz bags)
Instructions
- 1
In a large saucepan over medium heat, combine sugar, corn syrup, water, and salt. Heat, stirring, to boiling, then cook using a candy thermometer.
- 2
Beat egg whites in a non-plastic bowl until they are stiff and form peaks.
- 3
When sugar solution reaches 270°F (soft-crack stage), remove from heat and pour in thin streams into egg whites, blending completely with mixer on low speed.
- 4
Continue to mix until candy begins to harden to the consistency of dough — this may take up to 20 minutes.
- 5
Add semisweet chocolate chips once candy is at dough consistency. The nougat will thicken no more after chocolate is added.
- 6
When chocolate is thoroughly blended, press into a greased 9x9-inch pan. Refrigerate until firm, about 30 minutes.
- 7
Cut in half down the middle, then cut across into 7 segments to create 14 bars.
- 8
Melt milk chocolate chips in microwave for 2 minutes on half power, stirring halfway through. Melt completely without overheating.
- 9
Resting each bar on a fork, dip into chocolate to coat completely and place on wax paper.
- 10
Cool until firm at room temperature, 1–2 hours.
